Indo-Chinese Green
(Pavo muticus imperator)

The Indo-Chinese Peafowl are the second most brilliant of the Green subspecies. There are few breeders in the United States who carry 100% pure Indo-Chinese stock.
Type of mutation: The Indo-Chinese peafowl are a subspecies of the Green peafowl and are found naturally in the wild.
Peacock Coloration: Males are quite similar in coloration and stature to the Java Green, but their colors are duller and less brilliant. The neck, breast, and back feathers are more coppery colored, and the flanks are darker. The mantel and wing coverts are also bluer and less brilliant.
Peahen Coloration: Females are even more similar to the Java Green than the males. They are differentiated by less brilliant wing coverts and buff bordering breast feathers.
Origin: Indo-Chinese Green peafowl are found in Indochina, parts of Siam and eastern Burma. This subspecies is endangered in the wild, but is not in as much danger as the Java Green. There are very few pure Indo-Chinese greens found in captivity, however.
Do they breed true?: Yes, Indo-Chinese Green peafowl do breed true.
